
Ahmadu Bello University is a federal research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State. It was established on October 4, 1962, originally under the name University of Northern Nigeria. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It has an extensive medical program and its own teaching hospital, which is one of the largest in Nigeria and Africa.Currently, Ahmadu Bello University occupies an area of 7,000 hectares and comprises 12 faculties, a postgraduate school, and 82 academic departments, including a teaching hospital—one of the largest in Nigeria and Africa. It also houses five research institutes, six specialized centers, an agricultural college, primary and secondary schools, and provides consultancy services to the broader society. The university has approximately 35,000 students enrolled in degree and sub-degree programs, drawn from every state in Nigeria, as well as from across Africa and other parts of the world. It employs about 1,400 academic and research staff and 5,000 support personnel.
